The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I say this to say that my family in this case my sister, is no different from me when it comes to last minute birthday planning and execution. She gave me a task and like the creative that I am, I ran with it full speed ahead. Our birthdays are 6 days a part and within a week from her birthday she decided that she wanted to have an intimate picnic with a tropical theme. I’m thinking to myself, “Is she serious and how am I going to pull this off to my standard in such short notice”? I of course accepted the challenge and duty as the event planner. So literally the day after my birthday dinner which was a Saturday, I spent that entire day creating her invitation and event menu, and adding things to cart from Amazon. Then the next day (a Sunday) I finished my Amazon shopping and started reaching out to vendors for some specific items/props such as the boxwood backdrop, palm tree, and pink sofa (both from Rent4Parties). By no means was this an easy process from getting things to arrive on time in such short notice, even with Amazon Prime. There were some items I had to return because they either weren’t as pictured or didn’t fully compliment the theme. The main issue that we faced for this event was getting the the correct shade of pink for the pillow cases and just a few items arriving the day of. All in all this event went so smooth (smoother than my dinner party). With me as the mastermind and the help of close friends and family, my sister’s vision came to life and we executed this tropical soiree beautifully. Below are some photos from the decor and a few shots from the actual picnic. Last, you’ll see a reels I put together that fully captured the event highlights. Hope you enjoy it.
